(Don't be afraid, lots of text but easy to do!)
Let's start with some info. ***Warning! Information inside!*** The advertising process: 1. Advertiser contacts an advertising network and submits their advertisement to them. 2. Advert is approved/declined via an automated system and then if approved enters the advertising networks "rotation". 3. Ads from the rotation are then shown randomly on TV Shack. The rotation can contain tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of ads at any one time. We have zero to do with the selection of ads for our site. We have however specified that ads with audio or adult content are banned and our advertising networks have filtered that content from reaching TV Shack. Some advertisers do not specify that their ads are audio or adult when submitting to the rotation, this is why some creep through onto TV Shack every now and then. We obviously want to remove these "bad ads" but telling our network "remove that one with the sound please" isn't going to be possible as there are far too many ads for the network to search through. We need you to report these ads to us when you see them by supplying a screenshot of the ad and if possible the URL that the ad uses. The section below explains how to do this. ***End of Info*** Now here is the guide on how you can help to get the "bad ads" removed. Step 1 - The Screenshot When you have the ad: - Press "Print Screen" or "PrtScrn/SysRq" on your keyboard. On a standard keyboard it will be next to the "F12" key in the upper right. *edit* MAC users -> http://guides.macrumors.com/Taking_Screenshots_in_Mac_OS_X - Nothing happened? Correct, you wont really notice anything but the Screen is now in your clipboard. Kind of like text you have copied. - Now you need to get this into a picture. Open an image editor of your choice (like MSPaint in Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint) - Paste the picture with ctrl-v and save it somewhere as jpeg/jpg - Go to http://imageshack.us and upload it. - After uploading you will see some different codes to use that picture. Go for the last link "Direct link to image" and copy that link. - To get that picture in a post, click the "Insert Image" Button in the upper menu and paste the link into the field.Voilą, you got the picture in your post. Step 2 - More info The 2nd problem is, we might end up with screenshots of ads like this: ![]() Now, this is good for the final evidence (those above are sound-ads btw) but they are hard to find in thousands of ads because there is no real clue on who "owns" it... So, anything you can give us will help: - Right-click the ad and "Copy link". This will copy the target for that ad, include it in your post - Right-click the ad and select "Properties". Copy the Picture Address which will give us a hint, too. Telling us on which site here on TV Shack you got the ad wont really help us because they are completely random because of the rotation system. It might help telling us if it was a square version (the video pages) or a rectangle one (the list pages). But, that's about it Final Step Post all of that as a reply in this topic and we will take care of the rest. Thanks for your help and enjoy the show(s). -------------------- A few help threads

The advertisers on this site are installing malware on several computers that I've was running the Free Edition of AVG or AVAST Home edition, causing me to reload these systems. I've since upgraded to Eset NOD32 AV which is able to block the exploits. The Eset Logs are: 8/8/2009 6:03:43 AM HTTP filter file http://hfs.huoaxo.info/ldp/pdfNode.php PDF/Exploit.Gen trojan connection terminated - quarantined Threat was detected upon access to web 8/7/2009 12:28:51 AM HTTP filter file http://akq.deiiiwq.info/htq/pdfNode.php PDF/Exploit.Gen trojan connection terminated - quarantined Threat was detected upon access to web A screenshot would be of empty banner ads so I didnt do that part. Thanks |

That's the URL to nothing less than a "TROJAN" that takes over internet explorer and tries to force you to download their anti virus program. It's nothing less than malicious and I can't figure out for the life of me why this site allows these "TROJAN" viruses to constantly be allowed here. Does anybody know. I know i can't be the only one that's complained about this!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

JT, please read the entire thread. NO WORRIES....i wouldn't ever think to pm a "support staff" member....for one reason and one reason only. First you would have to be a tech, and i don't think anybody here is tech related. So, this being said. I stand by my original statement! This site not only supports Trojans I think you encourage them. You not only have Trojans you support those "under ads" to jeezzz I'm all for advertising but do you have to stoop so low as to insall malware???? |

HELP. I am new to this site. I was watching the British PRIMEVAL series (season 1) with no problem until I came to episode 5. Suddenly, whenever I tried to hit "play" on the arrow, I got an ad - jasons ripped abs.com and others. There is no way to watch the episode. What is happening? Again, episodes 1-4 were watchable with no problem. Until FIVE. I can't figure out where to list this problem. Is this normal?

How many times are we going to submit the same bad advertisements to this company? What ad company is this? I would like my lawyer to contact them by phone instead of this loop-hole we have been put in that doesn't fix anything.
Every time I turn off my ad-block I just receive the same advertisements and malware and Trojan's. Hell, TV Shack is even listed malicious by AVG, Eset, and Norton. Please PM me with this information. I want to resolve this. All information regarding TV Shack will not be mentioned. I just want the advertisements themselves targeted. -------------------- ![]() View my profile or check out my Facebook Alex: Hey, Timmy, any chance I can crash on your couch tonight? Timmy: Why? Please post screenshots. That link, and others, contain malicious software that will install without the users consent. I advise you run a virus and malware scan.
